The second Annual conference of the Bangladesh Association of Plant Tissue Culture & Biotechnology

November 17, 2015. The second Annual conference of the Bangladesh Association of Plant Tissue Culture & Biotechnology, was held on 13 -14, November, 2015 at the Hotel Sea Place, Cox’s Bazar. Professor M. M. Haque, the President of said Association chaired the Inauguration Ceremony. Professor A A M S W Siddique the Honor’ble Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Professor Dr. M. Imdadul Haque, Dean of the Biological Sciences, University of Dhaka graced the occasion as the special guest. Nearly one hundred tissue culture scientists from different Universities and Research Institutes all over Bangladesh attended the two-day long conference. The Inauguration ceremony started at 10 a.m. on 13 Nov. and ended in an hour. Following the Inauguration two Technical sessions continued concurrently up to 1.45 p.m.
After the luncheon break the technical session again started and continued for nearly an hour. The technical session was chaired by Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Forkan, Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Chittagong University. Professor Dr. Md. Rezuanul Islam, Department Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering. Islamic University, Kustia acted as the Co-Chairman. Dr. Tahmina Islam at the Department of Botany, Dhaka University was the Rapporteur.
Twenty research papers were presented, each speaker being given enough time by the President to complete his/her presentation.
There was a Poster session with five posters from Kustia University The participants enjoyed the conference as well as their stay in the Hotel Sea Place, Cox’s Bazar. [Courtesy Professor M. Mozammel Haque]
